Hi Bill, I don’t know if you know me, but I was a Senior Probation Officer (Retired in 2004). My name is Dave Young. My mother bought your book about San Diego Baseball and my grandfather, Alfred Vidal, played for the Neighborhood House. I have a lot of his news articles and a letter from the Hollywood Stars that I have on my computer. My Great Uncle, Henry “Peanuts” Savin played for the Padres as a catcher in the Pacific Coast League. I don’t think I have anything from him though. If you would would like, I could email the information I have to you. It was nice to see my Grandfather’s name in your book. Take care, Dave
Hi Dave,
Sorry, but I don’t think we’ve met before. I am well aware of your baseball playing grandfather, Alfred Vidal, and great-uncle, “Peanuts” Savin. I know that Peanuts was a friend of Johnny Ritchey and Walter McCoy.
I’m electronically challenged. I don’t have a cell phone or Facebook account. Obviously, I don’t check this blog very often.
If you would like to leave your e-mail address, I will send a personal and more detailed response.
Best regards, Bill Swank
